I Heard An Unhappy Ending, It Sort Of Sounds Like You Leaving...

Hey guys,

(Gilmore Girls spoilers below!)

I meant to post this on Monday but... well, I got distracted.
Did everyone watch Gilmore Girls? I binge-watched it one night. I had many emotions. At first, I was actually really pissed off about the final four words. I think I actually yelled "What?!" at my computer. But the more I think about, the more I liked it. I enjoy the symmetry of it and despite all the reviews I've read talking about how awfully they portrayed millenials, I actually really liked it. Because truthfully, I feel like we were all taught that we could be anything we wanted to be, that the world was ours, but when we actually got out into the world we realized that said world doesn't owe us anything. For many of my friends and myself, the future is nothing like we thought it'd be and we all have to now try to figure out what will actually work for us. I think that was the main theme for Rory. She's learning the hard way that we all get thrown curve balls and need to learn how to roll with the punches. I think it's also in a way about trying to combine who we think we are and who we really are, that's why when everyone kept welcoming her back she kept saying "I'm not back!" Because she never pictured herself living in that town forever but in truth, she is that town, it's part of her and that's shaped who she really is. People also keep harping about how terrible Rory is and how out of character her relationship with Logan was but I think everything about that was perfect. Honestly, I think most of us in our 20's do some things that we're not proud of (I know Rory was 32 but she's always been a little behind) because we're all still learning how relationship and sex work. It also wasn't a one way street, Logan was cheating too and I think people conveniently forget about the bridesmaid's incident in season 6. Plus we all know that just like Chris with Lorelei, Rory is Logan's cryptonite. I also liked how in the scene where Rory and Lorelei were going to all those line ups, they kind of showed how Lorelei -by getting things easily- informed Rory's sense of entitlement. I've noticed it before that while I think Lorelei was a great mom, I do think she did Rory a bit of a disservice by giving her everything and being the type of person who gets what she wants all the time.
Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts on the subject of the revival. I will just say however, that my absolute favourite part was the Life and Death Brigade reunion. I've always loved that story and personally, if I had been Rory, I would have said "Whatever, Logan, I'm going home with Finn" and called it a day. Man that guy's a babe! (freaking hilarious too) Plus the nod to Across the Universe was incredible! So magical.
That's really all I have to say for this post. Not really much going on right now. I worked, thought about Gilmore Girls and worked some more. I hope you guys enjoyed the revival and that your week has been going well. I'm still working on a Retail Therapy post... I don't know where my time goes...
