Everything's Old In The World Except For The Baby...

Hello!

So as it stands, Christmas is almost here and like an idiot, I've once again forgotten to post. I'm with my family here in New York. I got here Friday and so far it's been a whirlwind. Dinners out with my the fam, afternoons shopping or other holiday like activities not to mention my parents' annual Christmas party which they threw on Saturday and after which I was so exhausted that Kae had to put me to bed like he would Oscar or Marley. To me it just further proves that I have the best big brother ever. You may have thought you did but no, I have him!
Okay, enough gushing for now. I hope you guys are ready for Christmas (or whatever it is you celebrate) and are having a great time.
-Bea

Let The Rain Fall... Cats And Dogs...

Hello!

So, today is Thanksgiving back home but for the first time in years, I'm missing it. I'm a bit bummed to be honest. Normally, I fly out to New York for Thanksgiving but ever since I got sick I've been more determined than ever to really take better care of myself and part of that is travelling less. I keep reminding myself that I'll be going out next month for Christmas and that it's not that far away but still, I hate missing time with everyone. In fact, the last few weeks I've been thinking more and more about moving back home or perhaps to California to be with my brother but I don't know... I love Vancouver, it's where I mostly grew up, it's where I went to University and got married. Plus, I think it'd be really hard on Ben to be far away from his own family, especially with baby Jack here now. It's really hard having everyone so scattered, what with Kae in California and Willa in England. I remember when I was a teenager and we were all together. I miss it. I'm trying to remind myself that things change as we all get older and it's not possible to be as close as were as kids but my family is the most important thing to me (Ben included obviously). It's really hard.
Sorry, I don't mean to be so melancholy, it tends to happen this time of year. I'll perk up closer to Christmas. Promise.

Yesterday, Ben and I went to see 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' and it was incredible. It was so fun to see the Warner Bro's sign come on with the Harry Potter music swelling in the background. Very nostalgic. I just loved everything about it. It was so funny and the style was awesome. I think Eddie Redmayne was absolutely perfect for that role. He just has this fundamental sweetness to his eyes that really sold me. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it, even if you haven't seen Harry Potter before (that's crazy!). I don't feel like you need to have seen Harry to enjoy it. It was perfect.

Today, I worked and later I'll Skype with my family (it was a condition of my mother's if I were to miss Thanksgiving so obviously, I'm not the only one missing people). Tomorrow, I plan on having a full out Gilmore Girls marathon. I'm gonna order pizza and eat ice cream sundaes and just completely enjoy the revival of my favourite TV show. I've warned Ben that he's not gonna see me much. It's a hen party and he's not invited. Can't wait! Are you guys gonna watch it? Ben was like, "what if it sucks?" to which I reminded him that it's my all time favourite and that it would have to suck sooo ridiculously bad for it to be bad and even then I'd probably still love anyway. It's the Gilmore Girls!
I hope you're all either having a happy Thanksgiving or just a delightful day and I hope that delight carries through to the weekend.
-Bea

We Never Could See Eye To Eye...

Hi there,

Okay, so I meant to post this last night but Ben and I are watching the Voice and by the time it was over, I was so exhausted that I barely made it to the bedroom. Can I just say that when this season started, I was so unimpressed by the new judges. I actually groaned when I heard it would be them, but now, having watched a few weeks of it, Miley Cyrus has actually really grown on me. She's pretty cute and seems to really love music which is cool. I can't say the same for the crop of talent... or lack there of. Truthfully, We've only been watching for four seasons and I feel like we were spoiled by the first two, because I wasn't crazy about last season either. Anyway...
Sunday was my father-in-law's birthday so Ben and I went over there for lunch along with his sisters and their significant others (which reminds me, I forgot to mention that Pippa got engaged over the summer, it's pretty exciting). We got to visit with our nephew baby Jack (we call him 'baby Jack' because it's Ben's grandfather's name and also Ben's middle name) who is just the cutest thing ever. He's at the big baby stage so he's all fat and smiley. It's awesome.
Wednesday, Ben and I are going to see 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' which I can't wait for! I am a huge Eddie Redmayne fan, I think he's absolutely gorgeous and super talented.
That's pretty much the extent of what I have to say so... yeah. I have a couple outfit updates below. Enjoy.

Retail Therapy: Session 9 - Early 2016

Hi!

So, if you bothered to read my last post which was like one hundred pages long, you'll know that the last six months have been really stressful for me and as you know, when I'm stressed... I shop. All of the events have also seen me staying in a few of the best shopping cities in the world.
I started this post thinking that I was gonna try and post everything I bought while I was away but... then I realized that that might be a bit insane so, I trimmed it down a little. I left out things like basics and pre-order items, things I'll probably only wear in winter and things that you can't find online. Below is what I ended up with and I think it's a pretty good cross section of the things I bought. As you'll notice, I've become slightly obsessed with Gucci as of late...
-Bea

(PS. I won't have any new outfit posts until next March but I plan on sticking to a rigid schedule this spring, so hopefully there will be a pretty regular post starting soon.)

(PPS. I'm sorry if my thoughts seem a little all over the place... I was trying to finish this at like two in the morning last night... yuck!)

(Click the colourways to get your own)

Item 1

What: Valentino Hawaiian Couture Embroidered Poplin dress - Hawaiian Landscape
Where: Valentino
How Much: $3,650
Why: So, I'd just gotten back from three stressful weeks in California, during which I spoiled my niece and nephew like crazy, I got home thinking okay, no more spending for a bit. The next morning I wake up to this Hawaiian capsule collection. I was half pissed off and half ecstatic. I just love this dress! Flared shirt dresses like this one are my all time favourite and this print is to die for. Sigh* So much for saving money.

Item 2

What: Valentino Hawaiian Couture Short Crepe De Chine Dress - Hawaiian Orchidea

Item 3

What: Valentino Hawaiian Couture Short Crepe De Chine Dress - Hawaiian Sunset

Item 6

What: Gucci Tulle Organdy Embroidered Dress - Light Blue

What: Gucci Tian Print Silk Plisse Dress - Light Blue
Where: Gucci
How Much: $2,900

Where: Net-A-Porter (in-store or .uk)
How Much: $7,830

Item 12

What: Valentino Hawaiian Couture Printed Crepe De Chine Shirt - Hawaiian Orchidea

Item 14

What: Alexander McQueen Off The Shoulder Cotton Cropped Top - White

Where: Gucci
How Much: $1,590

Item 18

What: Gucci Silk Organza Top - Pink
Where: Gucci
How Much: $1,150 (gifted)
Why: I think I stared at this top for like 15 minutes straight when I tried it on but ended up putting it back because I'd already spent a zillion dollars. Mom surprised me with it the next day. I was pretty happy.

What: Gucci Strawberry Crochet Pullover - Cream
Where: Gucci (in-store or .kr)

Item 28

What: Gucci Silk Organza Pleated Skirt - Light Blue
Where: Gucci (in-store or .jp)
How Much: $1,380
Why: Let me preface this by saying that I'm not that tall. 5'8''... I know that's not short but next to my brother and sister Willa, I'm tiny. Because of this... I feel like midi skirts always look silly on me. So I tailored this one... I know! I spent this much money on a skirt I had to fix but... so pretty and it's perfect now.

Why: Aww! How can you see this and not swoon a little?

Item 36

What: Gucci Arielle Embellished Patent Leather Pumps - Pink
Where: MyTheresa
How Much: $675
Why: I have these in black and I was a little unsure how they'd work out, given the unusual heel but they're actually quite comfortable and I'm a sucker for the pearl button.

Item 37

What: Marc Jacobs Courtney 3 Strap Pump 75mm - Black
Where: Marc Jacobs
How Much: $478
Why: I bought the flats too. I love glittery shoes. A few years ago, I got a cream pair like these and I still wear them all the time.

Item 38

What: Repetto Cendrillon Leather Ballerinas - Pink
Where: MyTheresa
How Much: $295
Why: Another basic... Such a pretty colour, I feel like I'm about to dance Swan Lake when I put these on.

Item 39

What: Saint Laurent Grunge Rose Classic Saint Laurent Lavaliere - Off White

Item 40

What: Gucci Le Marche Des Merveilles Earrings - Gold
Where: Gucci
How Much: $1,400 (gifted)
Why: These are the other goodies that Ben gifted me. When I was a kid, every time someone said my name, it would be all kinds of mangled... to the point where I felt like people were actually making it harder to say than it actually is... When I got a bit older, I just started introducing myself as Bea. Ever since, bees have been my spirit animal.

Item 41

What: Gucci Le Marche Des Merveilles Necklace - Gold
Where: Gucci
How Much: $1,500 (gifted)
Why: I love the bee and the heart design. I think it's incredibly sweet.

Item 42

What: Gucci Le Marche Des Merveilles Ring - Gold
Where: Gucci
How Much: $1,300 (gifted)
Why: Rings are tough for me because I wear both my wedding and engagement rings all the time and when I wear other rings too, I feel too overdone but I just love this so much, I'll make it work.

Item 43

What: Kate Spade New York Let's Fly Away iphone 6 Case - Frosted
Where: Kate Spade
How Much: $40
Why: I needed a new case so bad... and this reminds me of Mary Poppins.
