The Joy Of Gift Giving: Christmas 2014 - Pt. 4...

Hi again...

So this is all about the number one man in my life. My hubby, the love of my life, my sweet sweet treasure... Ben.
I did good this year. During the summer, I tried out a new style for him and it seems to have really stuck. This look really suits Ben and he seems to like it, which is something that doesn't happen often. He always wants to look way fancier than his job requires. I think that this is a good balance.
-Bea

(Ps. this is the last one until after we get back as we don't celebrate with Ben's family until then and my mom wanted a charity donation -and a really nice coat- this year.)

Hi there,

So my niece and nephew are notoriously spoiled at Christmas time and I'll admit that I'm the worst. It really is a problem. Every year I promise myself that I'll stick to my clothing only deal but every single year I end up getting them toys too. It's a sickness I swear. This year, Marley is all about Frozen so I made that a bit of a theme for her gifts.
-Bea

(Ps. the Frozen 'Kristoff' doll that I bought Marley looks EXACTLY like my cousin Mick did when he was a kid. It's almost freaky how much they look alike. The doll even has Micky's slightly angry eyebrows.)

Okay so...

I honestly never have trouble shopping for my sisters. Willa and Ruby always look good in everything so when I'm out shopping for them I'm always like 'Ohh this is nice' and 'Oh my God this is amazing' and before I know it, I have enough to give them for the next three Christmases. This year was kind of the worst in a while because Ruby now fits into adult clothes so I decided to go to Kate Spade... BIG MISTAKE! I got her so much stuff.

As I promised...

This year, I'm starting with my brother because a) I don't think I've ever done a gift list for him before and b) I was so happy with his gifts it would just be a shame not to show them.
So without further adieu...

I wanna make it my business I wanna recognize drunk you, honey I wanna make you my problem...

Hi friends...

I know that it's been an inexcusably long time since I've posted. I really don't even have an excuse to try. I just haven't been into blogging lately. However... I've decided to do a whole revamp here on the site. I know that I usually don't revamp the blog until spring but I dunno... this winter's theme just wasn't working for me. I'm not sure that I love this new one but I'm gonna live with it for a bit and see if I love it more in a couple weeks.
So as I write this I am sitting in my parent's apartment trying desperately to fit all my Christmas gifts and boxing day shopping spoils into my luggage... difficult task. I am also swooning slightly over this new band called 'Catfish and the Bottlemen' (a gift from Willa as their album is not yet released in the US). I'm not sure if it's cause they remind me of the Strokes or if it's cause lead singer Van McCann looks like the love child of Adam Green and Ben Kweller... but I kinda adore them. Particularly Van... I know that makes me a bit of a cradle robber but whatever I think every woman has had at least one cougar moment.
I got some really awesome stuff for Christmas this year, my family really outdid themselves. My dad bought me a new iPad because as much as I scoffed the first time I got one (see here) I have become incredibly attached to the thing and broke it over the fall when I knocked it off the bed in a half-asleep half watching Julian Casablancas being a babe on youtube moment... it happens. My new one is slightly smaller (so it'll fit in my purse better) and the back is gold which I find really quite fancy. Ben bought me a whole bunch of new stuff for our house (most of which I picked out) as well as some very awesome other stuff.
My brother went crazy over the stuff I got him this year which was awesome considering that I usually suck at buying him gifts. It's okay though because it's become kind of a running joke that for the past three years we've bought the same thing for each other every year. I broke the tradition this year and I'm glad because the coat I got him looks amazing on him. I spent waay too much this year, especially since I can no longer shop for my sister Ruby in the kids section. Kate Spade tried to break my credit card.
I'm gonna post what I got everyone later today. I'm actually looking forward to showing you guys because I feel like I really outdid myself this year.
I'm gonna make you all angry tonight by only posting Christmas Day's outfit, yesterdays and today's because other than those, I haven't really been keeping track of what I've been wearing. Sorry...
I hope you're not too cross with me for not being around but I'm gonna try. I also hope you had a really amazing Christmas!
Love
-Bea

I'll Be More Like A Woman, Less Like A Lady, If You Want Me To...

Hello friends...

Busy day. Busy, busy day. Mom and I hit the streets with our credit cards burning a hole in our wallets and a Christmas list a mile long... by the way, a note to self to all those high end shoppers out there, DO NOT GO INTO SAINT LAURENT!!! It's a trap for your money. Trust me on this one. I spent so much in there today that I don't even want to think about it. However, I did put a serious dent into my lists for both my brother and my husband in there. Turns out that if you take the two hardest men in the world to shop for and Saint Laurent and put them together, you get heaven. Who knew? I will confess however, that Saint Laurent held absolutely nothing I could possibly give to my father. I guess you win some and you loose some. I also finally got my hair done for the first time in waaaaaay too long. Nothing drastic just a much needed trim and a bit of highlighting. During the summer my mother took me to get my hair done and the hairdresser gave me these beautiful golden medium brown highlights and they were just amazing, they lit my face right up. Having since grown out, I got them redone today and I absolutely looove them! So really, all in all, I call this a very good day despite it being really quite gloomy out.
Yesterday we just kinda stayed home as there was a bit of a weird vibe in the city. I don't know how to explain it but when I woke up yesterday morning I was like 'okay, no.'
It was just a weirdly dark feeling. I sound like a hippie I know but sometimes I just have these moments where I know that I just have to put that particular day in the books before it's even started.
I made up for it today though and tonight, I'm going out for dinner with my loveliest mother and my amazingly grown up all of a sudden little sister Willa. I'm not sure where we're going but it will be great. And to make up for poor Ruby having to miss out, tomorrow Willa and I are taking her out for some fun and maybe a little Dylan's Candy Bar action.
I really hope your week is going as well as mine is. I'm so happy to see my family even if it is only for a week. Love you all...
-Bea

(Ps. I was serious about Saint Laurent! Watch yourselves!)

The Joy Of Gift Giving: Christmas 2013 - Pt.6

Fewf... just under the wire!

Okay, so technically, I didn't finish my gift lists before Christmas as this year I'm neglecting my Father and Brother. But! I do have time to show you what I bought for my lovely husband. Ben and I decided early on that since we live in the same city as his parents and see them all time, that we would spend our Christmases in New York... at least until we have kids of our own and then we'll reevaluate. So everything I bought for Ben, I had shipped to NY.
Happy Christmas Eve by the way! My mother and aunt have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen all day. Willa and I excused ourselves to go and have lunch with our cousin Hannah and her beautiful daughter Alma. Once I've finished this post, I'll be donning my apron and getting busy. Hope you are all busy too... in a good way of course.

The Joy Of Gift Giving: Christmas 2013 - Part.4

Hi there,

I'm currently typing this from a very merry Manhattan! That's right, I arrived here just a couple hours ago and I'm taking this small break in what has been a crazy day to blog. Without further ado...

It's time for part four of my gift list. Today, I'm focusing on my mom and my mother-in-law. Both are very tough ladies to shop for. I usually just donate money to a charity in mom's name which I know she loves but the last couple years, I've been trying to make more of an effort to spoil her a bit... I mean, she did give me life so...
I'm really gonna try to post another list later tonight as I'm suddenly realizing that Christmas is in only four days! Yikes...
I'm also gonna try to post my outfits for the time that I'm here in New York! Maybe even a christmas photo or two...

The Joy Of Gift Giving: Christmas 2013 - Pt.3

Hi!

Back again with part three of my Christmas gifts. This time, I'm focusing on my darling little sister Ruby, who just discovered Audrey Hepburn and is all about her now. I tired to look for clothes that were Audrey-esque. I think I did a pretty good job! I also bought her the best Audrey movies to watch, I was a little bummed that they didn't have Roman Holiday on Blu-Ray yet but meh, what can you do?
-Bea

(Ps. How awesome is it that they make jr. J. Crew up to a size 12? + Thank God for the tiny footed adults out there who create the demand for adorable Kate Spade shoes in a size 6!)
