The Joy Of Gift Giving: Birthdays 2014 - Ben...

 So, August 22nd was my husband Ben's Birthday. I can't believe that when we met he was just a slightly geeky twenty-two year old musical engineering student with a hilarious sense of humour and fantastic taste in music. We quickly became friends after meeting at a party thrown by mutual friends and about three months after we met, we became a couple. It's the best thing I've ever done and now I have a mature, funny, intelligent, and gorgeous twenty-eight year old music engineer husband. I think I'm pretty lucky. Now, I know that I've talked about how hard it is to shop for Ben but this year it was actually not that bad. My inspiration was Spike Jonze. I like Ben slightly nerdy... what can I say? It's hot.

There's A Key On My Piano That I Play For You...

Hi everyone!

So, we're home now and Vancouver is just as beautiful as I remember it. I always like the first couple days home from a holiday, I'm always really grateful that this is my home. Of course I'll miss my family but I just love being in my own house.
The day before our last day in New York was Ben's 28th birthday and to celebrate he and I went out to dinner and had a couple (*cough* a lot *cough*) of drinks. It was really fun and after I'm done here, I'll be posting what I got him this year, so look out for that.
The next night we had a farewell dinner with my family at home. It was a really good time and I shed a few tears (of course). We flew home the next day and had a quiet night at home, unpacking and doing laundry. On the 26th we went and had dinner with Ben's family to celebrate his birthday belatedly. And since then I've just been doing end of summer things... re-organizing our closets and getting ready to go back to work. Ben is flying out to London next week for work for I'll be alone in house for a couple weeks. I don't really mind. The first few weeks of work is always a bit stressful so it's probably safer for Ben if he's out of the country.

Hey guys,

Yesterday I finished shopping for Ben's birthday presents. Man did he get spoiled... but then what else is new? Today, I'm planning on doing a whole lot of nothing actually. So in light of the nothing-ness that I'm planning I thought I might do a couple things here on the blog, starting with an outfit post. I've only got four days for you this time which has to be something of a record this summer. After this I'll be posting what I bought for little Marley this year as she turned four on the 17th. Later today you can look forward to seeing a bit of what I've bought for fall so far... there may or may not be some Orla Kiely purchases to document... *shrugs* What?
In other news, the last few days have been filled with Ben and I trying out some new covers. We got Willa in on the action this time which was super fun. I tell ya, the God Help The Girl album is amazing. We've got about five songs down at this point. Ben plans on roughly recording a couple before we leave. So fun!
In other, other news... my mother has declared that we all need a spa weekend so all us girls will be treated to the amazing-ness of Monhonk Mountain Spa services, we're driving out tomorrow and we'll be spending two days at the beautiful hotel. You'd better believe that I'm getting the works, really looking forward to an amazing massage. There's nothing I love better than getting rubbed and scrubbed. *sigh* Delight.

Cassie Dances Madly Like A Boxing Kangaroo Spinnin' On The Spot...

Hi there...

How much trouble am I in? Forgive me, things have just been so crazy as the summer begins to wind down. Let me see... what's been happening?... My cousin finally had her twins on the 12th so we all welcomes little Clover and Sadie into the world. Hannah was overjoyed to have it be over which I totally don't blame her, I can't imagine being pregnant with twins. Hannah's older daughter Alma was super jazzed to be a big sister and already mothers them like crazy.
Other than that it's really just been summer stuff. All the siblings (Kae, Willa and I) went out to dinner on the first which was fun. Nights like that used to just be Kae and I but with Willa old enough now it's even better.
Mom took all us girls out for shopping and a special dinner on the 6th. That was really fun. I know that we see each other quite often but I love it when we're all together and totally miss the days when we were together everyday. I guess that's what happens when you grow up.
We all had a Robin Williams movie marathon when he died. It was a very sad day for us all, especially me and Kae as 'The Dead Poet's Society' has always been one of out all time favourites. My love and prayers go out to his family. I know that he's in a better place now.
Ben, Kae and Willa's boyfriend Daniel have really seemed to bond this summer which Willa is beyond thrilled about.
Sunday is Marley's birthday so that is gonna be really fun. We're all gonna get dressed up and have a dinner picnic on the beach if the weather agrees which I'm sure it will as it's been beautiful lately.
Yeah... that's about it.
In other news I have a super, super, super huge outfit update for you all. Like so long that I am gonna split it up again. Sorry. I hope you're all having a super fun summer and hope that you haven't completely forgotten about me in my absence. I adore you all.

It's been so hot the last couple days, I feel like I'm melting. We've been keeping it pretty low-key around here. Ben and I did get away for a bit to Manhattan over the weekend to see some friends who were throwing a party to celebrate their new art project. We went up on Thursday and had dinner with my cousin Hannah -who is seriously ready to explode- and her husband James. After that we mainly just hung out around the city, did a little shopping and what-not. It was nice.
Now that we're back we've just been doing family things. I can't believe that the summer is already almost over. It always seems to go by so fast. I hate that. Tonight we're watching an as of yet undecided movie on the projector, I'll let you know what we decide. Hope you are all having a great summer.

Last time we saw him was when he came with Oasis and I nearly got in a fist fight with some blonde biker chick who kept getting in my grill. Which would have been fine if we had been in the open floor but it was seated for goodness sake. Rude! I have promised Ben that I will refrain from making any wife of a man whom could kick his ass angry. I think that's fair.)
