Okay so...
In order to explain why I've been gone so long, I'll have to tell you a story...
I'm sure I've mentioned my oldest friends from high school and college, Maddie and Alex, here on the blog before. Well, the story is as goes...
Maddie, who'd been, at the time, working for some make-up company in California, flew to Paris last spring for work. Paris which has been home to Alex for almost two years now. Naturally, the two met up and hung out while she was there. Now, understand that ever since we were young Maddie and Alex have had a very interesting relationship, being best friends one minute, hating each other the next and claiming to be in love two seconds later. The two have been romantically entangled about a dozen different times since high school and Maddie has always had such an impulsive, devil-may-care attitude that sweet and dependable Alex has never been able to resist, so when the two informed me that Maddie had decided to leave her life in California and move to Paris with Alex, no one was less surprised than me. Nor was anyone less surprised when Maddie showed up on my doorstep two weeks ago asking if she could stay for a while and giving me no explanation. I got the explanation later that same night when I got a phone call from a scared and upset Alex telling me that he'd come home from a shoot (he's a photographer) in London only to find Maddie and all her stuff gone. Suddenly it all made sense. I love Maddie, I love Maddie like I love my sisters but she has a very annoying tendency to take off when things get tough, or when she quickly gets bored, and when like in this case, it's a bit of both... Like I said, taking off has always been her M.O. It seems that Alex had been wanting to get serious for a while and Maddie is not the settling down type.
Anyway, the point is that I've been dealing with this. To make matters worse, a week after Maddie showed up, my sister-in-law Pip showed up claiming an argument of her own with her boyfriend Rick. So for the last week our home has been filled (much to Ben's chagrin) with angst ridden post break-up women. Six viewings of Pride And Prejudice (the 2005 and 1995 versions), twelve trans-Atlantic calls and enough cocktails to kill Marisa Cooper later and things have quietened down a bit. Pip has gone back home now, having reconciled (thank god!) with Rick, and Maddie is leaving tomorrow to stay with her parents, who moved to Calgary two years ago, for a while. I'm myself am leaving for San Diego tomorrow and as I'm sure you can imagine Ben is quite happy at the prospect of having to house to himself for a couple weeks sans drunk angry women. In the midst of all this happening I received my shipment of Orla Kiely goodies and have been trying to pack. Oh! And I've been working during all of this, excuse me while I pass out from exhaustion. I must say, a nice two week vacation with my favourite people in the world sounds like the most amazing thing in the world right now. Starting Saturday, I'm going to shop and spa and watch movies and cuddle little ones and absolutely nothing else! I need to because when I get back in two weeks, Alex will be flying in for a visit. I'm actually looking forward to that, as I haven't seen him for a while.

I will say that all this relationship drama has really made me feel pretty good about my own, Ben and I have never been better, so that's a plus... for me. I have a massive outfit post below for you, as like I said, I've been neglecting all of you.
